I am advised:
- and (2) The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is preparing
a Cancer Services Strategic Plan on how to position the District to meet the
challenges of the future. The Plan will focus on addressing the projected
increase in demand for cancer services across the whole HNELHD.
The Plan
will incorporate the service model for the North West Regional Cancer Centre
currently under construction, and $1 million has been allocated in the 2012-13
State Budget to support the establishment of radiotherapy services at the new
facility. Completion of the North West Regional Cancer Centre is on
schedule and $23.6 million has been allocated in the current budget for
completion of this project, the total cost of which is $40.7 million.
