2734 - EXPANSION OF CONTAINER PORTS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport representing the Minister for Roads and Ports
  1. Why has the Government chosen to expand Port Botany and Port Kembla and not the Hunter region as a site for a full-scale container port?
  2. Given that 80 per cent of containers leave Port Botany by road, how will the Government accommodate the extra traffic when the M5 motorway is already heavily congested during peak-hour traffic?
  3. Why has the Government chosen to expand ports that do not have sufficient resources to support their expansion?

  2. The NSW State Infrastructure Strategy and the NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan address the future transport needs of Port Botany.
