2688 - PLAN FOR THE HUNTER AND GROWING HUNTER CITY

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Planning

What is the Department of Planning and Environment's framework for responding to the submissions of Hunter residents concerning the Plan for the Hunter and Growing Hunter City drafts?

Answer -

Since the launch of draft Hunter Regional Plan and draft Plan for Growing Hunter City on 25 November 2015, there has been considerable community interest in the draft plans. The consultation period was recently extended until the 24 March 2016. The draft plans provide a blueprint for new homes, jobs and environmental protection in the Hunter over the next 20 years, so it is important that the community and all stakeholders have the opportunity to comment.

The Department of Planning and Environment has received submissions from Hunter residents and the other community representatives including local councils, community groups, and peak bodies. As part of this process we are acknowledging all submissions received.

The feedback received throughout the consultation period will inform the finalisation of the plans.  To this end, Department staff are already considering the submissions, including recording and analysing the issues and examining the suggested changes to the draft plans. The Department will continue to communicate and engage with key stakeholders while finalising the plans
