6012 - AIR CONDITIONING IN CLASSROOMS AND SCHOOL HALLS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Education
  1. How many schools in the Wallsend electorate do not have air conditioning installed in their classrooms and schools halls?
    1. What are the names of these schools?
Answer -

I'm advised there are no schools in the Wallsend electorate that currently meet the criteria for inclusion in the Department of Education's Air Cooling Policy.

Air cooling is provided in schools with students that have special needs and in all demountable teaching spaces.

Many schools choose to install air conditioning at their own expense. The department does not track this data on an annual basis.

I have asked the Department of Education to review the air-cooling policy to ensure it reflects current scientific data.
