Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport representing the Minister for Roads and Ports
  1. What steps is the Government taking to ensure that Whitebridge residents are fully included in the decision making process regarding the sale of the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) owned land in Whitebridge?
  2. (a) Does the Government recognize the importance of the land's biodiversity and its proximity to the renowned Fernleigh track?
    (b) If so, why is the Government considering the sale of the land?
Answer -

I am advised:

NSW Government policy requires disposal of surplus property following the completion of appropriate pre-disposal activities. Roads and Maritime Services staff have met with local residents earlier in 2013, and will meet with owners adjoining its land holding in Lonus Avenue, Whitebridge to communicate the disposal process.

The environmental value of the land and the adjacent conservation area is protected through appropriate zoning, with approximately 85 per cent of the Roads and Maritime Services land holding in Lonus Avenue, Whitebridge zoned Environmental Protection 7(2) Conservation (secondary).
