7757 - WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK FOR NSW HEALTH EMPLOYEES

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research
  1. What NSW Health employees are required to have a Working With Children Check?
  2. Are these employees required to pay for their own Working With Children Check?
Answer -

NSW Health has applied the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 and the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013 in determining which NSW Health employees require the WWCC.

As the individual owns the Working with Children Check, NSW Health employees are required to pay for it themselves. The $80 fee for a five year clearance is tax deductible for existing employees required to have it, and it can be used for any child related work in New South Wales.
