2430 - FUNDING FOR HUNTER WOMEN'S CENTRE

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Family and Community Services, and Minister for Women
  1. Will funding be allocated to the Hunter Women's Centre so that their services can continue after 30 June 2012?
  2. Will funding be provided for a case worker beyond 30 June 2012?
Answer -

As the Hunter Women's Centre currently receives funding from the Hunter New England Area Health Service, questions relating to this organisation should be directed to the Minister for Health.

The Hunter Women's Centre's services have never been funded by Women NSW (formerly the Office for Women's Policy) as grants program funding is not available for the day-to-day operations of an organisation, as was the case under previous Labor Governments.
