2597 - WAITING TIME TARGETS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research
  1. What are the NSW Government's current waiting time targets?
  2. (a) Are the mandated targets being adhered to at the John Hunter Hospital and the Calvary Mater Hospital?
    (b) If not, why not?
Answer -

I am advised:

  1. The NSW Ministry of Health monitors waiting times for planned surgery and for Emergency Department care using nationally agreed measures. These measures are based on clinically recommended time frames, as determined for each patient by their medical practitioner.
  2. All hospitals in NSW use the nationally agreed waiting time measures. The Bureau of Health Information publishes advice on individual hospital performance on www.bhi.nsw.gov.auhome
