I am advised:
- to (3) The NSW public hospital system aims to ensure all people have timely
access to health care and acknowledges that there are often waiting times for
certain procedures. Priority for admission is based on the treating clinician's
decision following review of each individual. NSW Health is working towards all
patients being treated within their clinical priority timeframes.
Patients
are encouraged to undergo a clinical review with their specialist if they feel
that their condition has deteriorated. A clinical review gives the specialist
an opportunity to reassess the patient and, if clinically warranted, to review
the clinical priority category of the patient. Information on waiting
times for elective surgery at John Hunter Hospital is available on the NSW
Health website at www.health.nsw.gov.au
