2424 - FUNDING FOR ROAD SAFETY MEASURES

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport representing the Minister for Roads and Ports

Will the Government designate revenue raised from traffic enforcement cameras into funding for road safety measures in the Hunter?

Answer -

The establishment of the NSW Community Road Safety Fund is underway. Fine revenue from camera-detected offences, including from fixed speed cameras, school zone cameras, mobile speed cameras, safety cameras - red-light and speed offences - and point-to-point cameras, will go directly into the NSW Community Road Safety Fund which will fund the road safety program.

The NSW Community Road Safety Fund will fund road safety initiatives such as enhanced high visibility police enforcement operations, engineering works and road safety education throughout NSW, including a range of road safety initiatives in the Hunter region.
