Answer -
|
Initiatives include:
- The Government provides grants to local and State sporting organisations to
provide sports participation opportunities at all levels for girls and young
women across New South Wales.
- Funding partnerships with the Regional Academies of Sport and the NSW
Institute of Sport ensure talented athlete opportunities are also offered to
girls and young women throughout New South Wales.
- The provision of Board Director training for State Sporting Organisations
and aspiring female directors has also been a key strategy to address areas
such as governance, leadership, strategic planning and equity in sport.
- The Government provided $27 million towards Netball Central at Sydney
Olympic Park which hosted preliminary games for the Netball World Cup. Netball
is the largest female participation sport in New South Wales.
- The Government has provided Womensport and Recreation NSW funding for
their Linking Local Government project. This project is in its fourth year of
operation. It works in partnership with Local Councils to ensure needs of women
and girls in equity, access and participation are promoted as priorities in
Council strategic and land use planning for sport and recreation.
- The Government provided a grant to Cricket NSW to support participation
pathways for female cricket. This assisted with an expansion of the Breakers
Cricket Junior League, increased participation in New South Wales Women's Grade
Cricket competition and increased participation in T20 Blast Schools Cup.
- The Office of Sport also works with State sporting organisations in an
advisory capacity, is a member of the AFL NSW⁄ACT Female Participation
Strategy Group and participated in the 2020 Vision for Netball NSW
workshop.
