2232 - RESIDENTIAL GAS DISCONNECTION

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy

How many people in the Wallsend electorate had their residential gas disconnected in 2015?

Answer -

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) reports on the number of customers disconnected for non-payment in the national electricity and gas markets. These reports are based on data supplied by authorised retailers for each financial year. The figures reported by the AER show the number of disconnections in each state in the national market and by each retailer. There is no data available for individual electorates or postcodes.

The AER has reported that 7,555 residential gas customers in NSW were disconnected for non-payment in 2014⁄15. This compares to 20,118 in 2011⁄12. This represents a decrease of 62%.
