2081 - TRANSPORT CONCESSIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport

How much will it cost the Government to extend transport concessions to international students?

Answer -

I am advised:

The cost of extending half-fare concessions to all international students is difficult to quantify, because there is no robust data available about their travel patterns.

In recent years, I understand reported costs estimates are in the range of $19 million to $74 million per annum, reflecting the impacts of different assumptions about student numbers and their likely use of public transport services.
