Answer -

I am advised:

Local Area Commands provide a 24 hour mobile policing response to all those areas within the boundary of each Command.

Local Area Commands are responsible for ensuring that there are always an adequate number of police officers rostered on duty to match expected demand. The appropriate allocation and tasking of policing resources within a Command is achieved, on a daily basis, using the intelligence-based identification of crime trends and "hot spots''.

In terms of the allocation of police resources across these areas, a range of factors are considered to determine police strength, such as crime figures, categories of crime, population and demographics, and these are reviewed as changes occur to ensure policing meets demand.
