1094 - BUS SERVICES PATRONAGE

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport
  1. Do State Transit Authority figures indicate that bus services patronage is down more than a quarter of a million passenger boardings over the past two years?
  2. What is the Minister doing to ensure a cessation of this trend, in terms of offering better, more efficient services?
  3. What is the Minister doing to address the surge in malicious damage, vandalism and offensive behaviour incidents which are hampering efforts to attract passengers?
Answer -

I am advised:

(1) and (2) State Transit reports on Newcastle bus services in its Annual Report.

(3) All buses in the Newcastle Buses fleet have modern security CCTV cameras to provide security for passengers and drivers. Newcastle Buses continues to work with the local community and other agencies in a multi-pronged approach to making Newcastle bus services a safe and pleasant experience for passengers.
