2018 - AFFORDABLE HOUSING TASKFORCE

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Planning

What actions have been taken in response to the recommendations regarding actions to develop a new affordable housing planning policy made in the 2012 interim report of the Affordable Housing Taskforce?

Answer -

I am advised:

  1. The Government is currently considering how to implement the Affordable Housing Taskforce's Interim Report.
The recommendations included an action to develop local housing strategies with councils to enable a diversity of housing in the right locations. A Plan for Growing Sydney will require each council, to prepare a local housing strategy that considers local affordable housing needs and strategies to provide affordable housing that responds to local demand.
In addition, the Department is currently undertaking a review of all State Environmental Planning Policies including State Environmental Planning Policy (Affordable Rertal Housing) 2009.
