  1. When will the Newcastle Urban Renewal State Environmental Planning Policy be placed on exhibition?
  2. Will it recommend the removal of the rail line to Newcastle?
Answer -
  1. Public exhibition of the Newcastle urban renewal study is anticipated in late 2012.
  2. The study will examine the multiple factors impacting on the city centre's urban renewal including economic, transport issues, public domain and the existing panning framework. A key consideration is the promotion of enhanced north-south connections between the waterfront and city centre.
    A decision about the future of the rail line will be made as part of Government's consideration of the study.
