2972 - COUNTRY PASSENGER TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS SCHEME

  1. (a) Has the Minister responded to the General Manager of Newcastle City Council who requested funding to upgrade transport stops in the Newcastle Local Government Area to meet the disability standards for accessible public transport?
  2. (b) If not, when will the Minister discuss his request?
  3. Why is Newcastle City Council not eligible to apply for assistance under the Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme?
Answer -

I am advised:

(1) and (2) Yes.

(3) The Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme (CPTIGS) awards grants to improve passenger transport infrastructure in rural, regional and remote communities of NSW.
To be eligible for CPTIGS funding, proposed projects must be located outside the Greater Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong metropolitan regions.
