5689 - NEW TRAIN CARRIAGE TENDER SUBMISSIONS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport, and Minister for the Hunter
  1. When will the Government be calling for tenders to build new train carriages for New South Wales?
  2. Will the Government give priority to Australian companies and⁄or companies from the Hunter who submit tenders?
    1. If not, why not?
Answer -

I am advised:

(1) As detailed in an industry briefing held on 30 May 2014, it is expected that a contract to build the new train carriages will be awarded in the middle of 2015.

(2) We encourage Australian companies, including those based in the Hunter, to get involved in this important project.
