Pedestrian Crossing Wattle Grove Public School

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, We, the undersigned petitioners ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to urgently construct a designated pedestrian crossing on Australis Avenue, Wattle Grove. Behind Wattle Grove Public School, near the tennis court, basketball court, cricket nets and park. It is dangerous for students, teachers and family members to cross the road to get to and from the school safely at this spot. Traffic is heavy and cars rarely stop for children but it’s never fully safe because cars coming from the other direction might not stop or see someone crossing. A designated crossing would ensure that kids can cross safely during busy times, especially before and after school. This crossing would also benefit the community on weekends and throughout the year. The tennis courts, basketball courts, and Australis Park are popular spots for children and families and crossing the road can be difficult. It’s particularly challenging on Tuesday evenings during the summer when young kids participate in OzTag games. Having a crossing would make it safer for kids to reach these facilities. We believe that a pedestrian crossing would improve safety for everyone and give families peace of mind, knowing their children can cross the road safely at all times. We ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to support this important safety improvement for the community.
