To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
1. Currently, there are 2 public buses in the morning that are available for the Grose View Public School students to catch to the school from Bowen Mountain.
2. The First bus (680) starts the route at 7:53am and is scheduled to arrive at Grose View Public School at 8:14am
3. The issue with this bus is that the school has no supervision for students until 8:40am so the children are not under adult supervision when this bus arrives.
4. The second bus (680) starts the route at 8:33am and is scheduled to arrive at the school at 8:58am
5. The problem is that this bus often arrives late at the school, causing students to arrive after the bell rings. Consequently, they must go to the office to sign in late, missing the beginning of the school day and impacting their attendance record.
6. There are many parents who are not comfortable with their children catching the bus as it is a public bus and they are concerned about who would be on the bus with their child which is preventing some families from using the bus as a travel option.
We the undersigned petitioners ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the government to establish a designated school bus from Bowen Mountain to Grose View Public School that can start at 8:20am and will then be scheduled to arrive at the school by 8:40 am when there is adequate supervision
