To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
On behalf of Lidcombe residents we would like to address our concerns with the catchment zones supporting the future development of Olympic Park High School. Listed catchment areas have been identified as Concord West, Wentworth Point and Newington suburbs, therefore excluding Lidcombe residents. Another area of concern is the future development of a local Public School on Carter Street, which has been identified as a Primary School and not a public High School.
Past and present families living in Lidcombe have been fighting this cause for many years. Birrong Boys High School and Birrong Girls High School remain the only public high schools that Lidcombe residents are eligible for, Arthur Phillip High School is the closest Co-ed High School but is based in Parramatta which is 3 suburbs away from the area. Families are forced to either move out of the area or invest in private education which is not an option for many families.
Given the latest plans to develop Olympic Park High School we would like you to consider the following options:
1. Review the catchment zones for Olympic Park Public High School to include families who reside in Lidcombe
2. Review the proposed development of a Primary School on Carter Street to possibly be a Co-ed K - 12 Primary/Secondary Public School Campus
We ask our local MP, Education Minister and NSW Premier to consider our proposal to review current plans, please don’t leave our kids behind.
