To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
The undersigned petitioners bring to the attention of the House the need for a shared path from Kalaru to Bega in Bega Valley Shire.
The residents in this part of New South Wales need the same kind of infrastructure that is commonly provided to more built up parts of the State.
We wish to be able to:
· Commute safely by bicycle or on foot;
· Enjoy the recreational and health benefits of cycling and walking;
· Encourage tourism to the Bega Valley Shire and its associated economic benefits;
· Decrease the number of vehicles on roads and reduce the use of fossil fuels.
We therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to recognise the Kalaru to Bega Shared Path as a high-priority, regional transport corridor project and authorise the provision of adequate funding to build and maintain this valuable infrastructure.
