To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
The residents of the Mudgee/Gulgong/Rylstone/Kandos region in Central Western New South Wales are seeking a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanning machine at Mudgee Health Service.
Mudgee and its surrounding districts are a growing and vibrant area in Central Western NSW that requires diagnostic imaging services to support the health and wellbeing of this regional community.
As the primary health-care service in the area, Mudgee Health Service does not currently have a MRI machine. It is unfair that residents of the Mudgee region have to travel long distances to access MRI services. This inequality must end.
The provision of a MRI machine is the responsibility of the NSW Government. MRI scans in the region are now claimable on Medicare so the need for a federal license is no longer required or problematic.
The undersigned petitioners ask that the Legislative Assembly call on the Government to deliver a MRI machine for Mudgee Health Service and the region as a matter of urgency.
