To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
The current bill going to Parliament, which is an amendment of the Transport Administration Act 1988, authorises the closure of the Casino - Murwillumbah railway line, and the pulling up of the tracks between Crabbes Creek and Murwillumbah, extending to Condong, and the line between Casino and Bentley.
We, the undersigned, request that the current protective legislation be retained and the railway tracks and corridor be saved for potential rail services in the future.
'Rail trail' bike paths can be placed beside the tracks in a dual use corridor without a change of legislation being required.
