To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
We the undersigned bring to the House’s attention the NSW Labor Government’s complicity in Israel’s war crimes through its support of Hewlett Packard (HP). HP and related entities, including Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE), provide computer hardware and data services for the Israeli police and prisons. They have also provided servers for Israel's racially segregated ID card system. HP has enabled the illegal occupation to perpetrate human rights violations and war crimes including home demolitions and forced displacement in the occupied West Bank and across Palestine.
PSA for Palestine is campaigning alongside the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement to boycott HP and cut ties with Israel.
The NSW government has awarded HP and its related entities at least $24 million in current contracts. These contracts fund HP, which in turn supports Israel to continue its system of apartheid against the Palestinians.
The NSW Government must procure goods and services ethically and refuse to administer contracts with companies facilitating apartheid, occupation and genocide.
We the undersigned petitioners ask the Legislative Assembly to call on Government:
1. Cease awarding further contracts to, or purchases from, HP and its related entities,
2. Introduce protections for public sector workers refusing to administer HP contracts or operate HP equipment without adverse repercussions
3. Instigate a review of its Procurement Policy Framework to exclude companies involved in, or profiting from, any violations of international law, including the illegal occupation of the Palestinian Territories.
