To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
Sydney Ferries currently allow dogs on ferries when the dog is contained within a box, crate, basket etc.
Such an rule is both onerous and unnecessary.
It acts as a deterrent to the use of an essential service.
It doesn't meet community expectations of Sydney being a dog friendly city.
This petition calls for a relaxation of the rules and Sydney Ferries to take a more dog friendly approach to the provision of services.
This petition proposes that the existing "box" rule be replaced with a rule that allowing dogs on ferries when wearing a dog collar and dog lead and traveling within an an area of the ferry to be designated by the vessels captain.
