To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
The residents of the Maitland Electorate brings to the attention of the House the anti-social and criminal behaviour in the Rutherford precinct, resulting in assaults, theft, break and enter, vandalism and significant damage to residents and small business and property owners. The Government needs to act now to address these issues so that everyone can feel safe in our community.
We, the undersigned petitioners, therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to:
a) Expand the eligibility of the Community and Small Business CCTV Fund to include the Maitland LGA.
b) Provide funding for the Rutherford precinct (including Telarah, Aberglasslyn, Lochinvar, Farley and Anambah) from the Department of Communities and Justice Crime Prevention Grants Program.
