To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
On Thursday 11th February a new commuter car park was announced in Jannali. This revealed the NSW State governments plans for the forced acquisition of 9 family homes, actionable immediately.
The 4 level car park was announced in an R2 zoned area with no communication with the community, including those that have been told they are losing their family homes. We all have genuine concerns for the traffic management impact, environmental impact and the scale of development in quiet residential streets.
We request the Legislative Assembly assist in:
1. Stopping the process of compulsory acquisition of these properties
2. Providing an opportunity for genuine consultation between the state government and the community
3. Reconsidering the location of the car park
We understand the need for a commuter carpark in Jannali but it is of paramount importance that the research and planning is done to ensure this is completed in the correct position with little impact on the community around it.
Our desire is to find a site that benefits the entire community, and to ensure the appropriate level of planning and consultation is completed. This project cannot simply be rushed through to meet the deadline of an election promise.
Save our homes Jannali 2226.
