Notes: JH Plunkett was a sitting MP for Cumberland (North Riding), DH Deniehy for Argyle.
Source: Nominations report SMH 13 June 1859, p.2-4, results from SMH, 16 June, p.4 col.4.
Corrections: Parliamentary Record refers to Thomas Broughton, but his ADB entry is for Thomas Stafford Broughton. NSW Statistical Register (1850-59) records 3,661 persons voting in both East Sydney and West Sydney. One of these entries is wrong, and as the SMH reported 3,436 voting in East Sydney, it is presumed the Statistical Register entry was for West Sydney.
