Water Conservation, has requested that, to assist the ongoing debate in the
area of genetically modified food, the Standing Committee on State Development
inquire into and report on issues relating to genetically modified food, and in
particular:
the likely public and private benefits and costs of genetically modified food
to the State of New South Wales;
the impacts of genetically modified food technology upon the agricultural and
food processing sectors; and
the identification of any possible adverse consequences to trade, food safety
and the environment from the introduction of genetically modified food
technology.
