Macdonell, Donald (Re-elected)
Labor Party
Elected unopposed
Cause Category: Absence
Notes: Donald Macdonnell had been ill, but was expected to recover and return to Parliament. However, he had not been formally granted leave from the Parliament. The resignations of two Labor MPs precipitating the Liverpool Plains and Mudgee by-election had led to the resignation of the Speaker and the termination of the session with the proroguing on Parliament. This resulted in Macdonnell having been absent for leave for a full session, automatically causing his seat to be declared vacant. He was re-elected unopposed but died less than three weeks later on 26 October. (Twomey p.423, Parliamentary Debates, LA, 12 September 1911, p.490)
