Source: Totals taken from SMH election summary, 8 December 1880, p.3 col.5. Report of election SMH 30 November only reported a majority of 137, a value matched by these totals. The same totals were subsequently located in the Queanbeyan Age, 1 December 1880, p.2 col.2, with booth results. Someone had amended this copy in handwriting to 382 votes for Hodgkinson, and cut the majority to 136. This appeared to be from adding the booth totals, but as there is no reason to give greater accuracy to the booth figures than overall totals, the unamended total of 381 for Hodgkinson has been used. Difference from Statistical Register totals may be unreported informal votes.
