Notes: Henry Parkes was MP for Canterbury. Sitting MPs John Macintosh and John Greenwood did not contest the election while John Davies contested South Sydney. East Sydney was the first contest at the 1880 election, conducted under a new act that imposed a forty pound deposit. Isaac Josephson became the first candidate to lose his deposit after polling less than a quarter of the vote of the fourth elected candidate Henry Parkes.
