Notes: As in 1872, it appears Taylor may have resigned to avoid an Election and Qualifications Committee inquiry. A petition was lodged against his election at the 1875-5 election on the basis he held a contract to supply meat to the government asylums in Parramatta and Liverpool. An inquiry into the matter had begun, but no finding was made given Taylor's resignation. (LAVP 1875-6, Vol A1 p.793). John Bergan was also nominated on the hustings but withdrew at the nominations in favour of Taylor.
