Electors were entitled to vote for as many candidates as there were vacancies to be filled. In the above tables, votes refer to the total of votes for each candidate, which means in multi-member districts, there could be more votes than electors. Ballots refers to the number of ballot papers counted, which corresponds to the number of persons voting. The persons voting values have been generally obtained from the NSW Statistical Register. Where a value has not been available, an estimate of the number of ballots has been calculated by dividing the number of votes by the number of vacancies.

It is not possible to simply add the number of votes in districts with different numbers of vacancies. The final overall totals has been calculated by weighting the total of votes to match the number of ballots cast. All tables estimate the overall totals based on the best available record of results.
