Notes: Sitting MP Clark Irving did not contest the election. His ADB entry notes that he died in England in January 1865 after having lost his fortune in a failed investment in the Spanish railways, so he had probably left New South Wales. JC Laycock had already been defeated in his seat of Central Cumberland so he is not shown as a sitting MP.
Source: Empire, 13 January, p. 5, col. 1 (DOP); SMH, 12 January, p. 4, col.6. Unfortunately, Clarence and Richmond Examiner, 3 and 10 January 1865, are both missing from the Mitchell Library microfilm, so final totals have not been found.
