Laidlaw, Thomas (Re-elected)
Elected unopposed
Cause Category: Resignation - Other
Notes: According to the ADB, Laidlaw resigned from Parliament after it was discovered he held a contract as postmaster at Yass. He hastily resigned as postmaster and was re-elected unopposed at the subsequent by-election.
Source: SMH, 16 September 1859, p. 5, col. 6, declared elected on close of nominations.
Corrections: Parliamentary Record is inconsistent in spelling, using both Ladlaw and Laidlaw. LC Consolidated Index and contemporary papers both use Laidlaw.
