Notes: Richard Jones was a sitting MP for Durham. Deniehy had been MP for Argyle in the previous parliament, a seat he did not re-contest, and had already been defeated contesting West Sydney on 14 June. His name was put forward at nomination for Upper Hunter and Lower Hunter around the same time as he contested Hunter, but he did not appear to campaign in either district.
