The Schools Reconciliation Challenge Exhibition showcases school students' vision for reconciliation in Australia. The theme for the 2019 challenge was 'Speaking and Listening from the Heart', with students encouraged to create artworks around this theme and to reflect on what reconciliation means to them.
In 2019, over 415 art and writing entries were received by Reconciliation NSW, the coordinator of the event. 27 of these entries are currently on display on the Reconciliation Wall, with school students from Bathurst to inner Sydney represented. One of the artists, Max Harris from Winmalee High School describes 'reconciliation' as "meaning we can connect to everything in the past and to culture, which helps us to understand more moving forward".
The Schools Reconciliation Challenge is on display on the Reconciliation Wall in the Fountain Court until Thursday 1 April. Each of the works have also been published in a virtual exhibition.
