This paper presents data from the 2001 Census of Population and Housing for NSW
State Electoral Districts (SED) as redistributed in 2004. Data was provided by
the Australian Bureau of Statistics. A profile is included for each SED giving
details of population and other selected census characteristics. The rank of
the SED when compared to other SEDs for each census characteristic is also
shown. Definitions of the various characteristics are provided at the beginning
of this paper and should be read in conjunction with the tables. Information on
the median age, median monthly housing repayments, median weekly rent, median
weekly individual income, median weekly family income, median weekly household
income and mean household size for each SED is included at the end of the
table.
A political party affiliation has been given for each electoral district. The
electoral districts have been redistributed since the most recent election in
2003. Accordingly, the party affiliation shown is notional only. The allocation
is based on the 2003 results adjusted by the new boundaries as calculated by
Antony Green in
2004 NSW Redistribution: Analysis of Final Boundaries,
NSW Parliamentary Library Background Paper No 1/05. The only exception is
Pittwater which is given as Independent as a result of the November 2005
by-election.
Maps of the electoral districts as they exist following the redistribution are
available from the NSW Parliament Intranet and the website for the NSW
Electoral Commission
