This e-brief provides an overview of long term population trends in NSW using a range of ABS datasets. It identifies those areas of NSW which have experienced the highest and lowest growth in the last decade, and discusses the main contributors to growth—natural increase and net overseas migration. The paper also considers how recent migrants have influenced State population trends.
The Parliamentary Research Service has also published an interactive map and table to enable readers to see the growth and density of the population across all 93 NSW electorates.
