Have you heard of the Legislation Review Committee? It's an important part of our legislative process - established under the Legislation Review Act 1987, the Committee reviews all bills introduced into, and regulations tabled in, Parliament and reports on their impact on personal rights and liberties.
Last year, the Legislation Review Committee reviewed over 270 regulations and reported on all 91 bills that came before the Parliament. It is one busy Committee!
Every sitting week on Tuesday afternoon, the Committee publishes its findings in the Legislation Review Digest. The latest digest examined the following bills:
- Child Protection (Working with Children) Amendment (Statutory Review) Bill 2018
- Companion Animals Amendment (Dining Areas) Bill 2018
- Smoke-free Environment Amendment Bill 2018
- Work Health and Safety Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulation 2017
