Qualifications, occupations and interests
Miner. Educated briefly at Newtown but went with father to Braidwood gold diggings late 1852, went to Sofala with family in late 1853. Became a blacksmith and successful jockey. Joined mining company at Hill End in 1868. Continued to speculate in mining ventures also in urban real estate. In 1900 - 1903 was a mining agent in Sydney. Champion of Municipal Government. On return became Vice President of Ashfield Bowling Club. estate valued at £ 30,712.
