Businessman and pastoralist. Arrived in Sydney in 1840. Entered business in Maitland. Journeyed to Tamworth in 1846 where he purchased land and established a flourishing general store. Became a partner in a Maitland mercantile firm. Became a driving force behind the firms expansion. From mid 1870s occupied positions in public companies. from mid 1870s occupied positions in public companies. Also acquired pastoral interests. Director of Prince Alfred Hospital and Industrial Blind Institution. President of Macquarie Street Synagogue 1862 until 1874, 1876 until 1877. On Board of Sydney Hebrew School.
