Educated at Gilgandra district, Trinity Grammar, Summer Hill and University of Sydney., LLB 1950; admitted as a solicitor in 1951, with L.D Serisier and Company at Orange until 1959, Serisier, Hawke and Company until 1971, moved to Sydney; called to Bar in 1976; executive member of New South Wales Freedom from Hunger Campaign 1970 - 1974; Rugby administrator of Sydney Juniors and Central West 1946 - 1969; member of Bathurst Church of England synod 1964 - 1972, New South Wales general synod 1965, provincial synod in 1974. Recreational interests include philately, trotting, cricket and rugby.
