Served on Finance, Education, Energy and Industrial Committees.

Returned Serviceman's Leagues member since 1946 (Manly, Padstow, Enfield and Bellingen Branches). Patron Bellingen Surf Club. Chairman Trades Hall and Literary Institute 1958-1985. Member Labor Council of New South Wales 1959-1985 (President 1983-1985).

Former trade union official. Churchill Fellow at Harvard. Educated at Christian Bros College, Manly. Member of Administrative Staff College Association; Completed Senior course in administration at Staff College, Mt Eliza. Interests include industrial relations, manufacturing industry and overseas trade. Recreational interests deep sea fishing and swimming.
Military Service
46th Battalion, 1st Australian Infantry Forces. Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) 1942-1946 (pilot, 460 Squadron).

Member of the Order of Australia (AM) 1981.
