Australian Labor Party (ALP). Member of the Central Executive 1946-1950; Vice President, 1947-1950; Campaign Director, 1952; Delegate, Federal Executive and Federal Conference, 1953-1954.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Plumber; union official. Educated at Granville Technical College and trained as a plumber and drainer. Worked as a journeyman plumber from 1935 until 1943. From 1943 until 1949 he was Assistant Secretary of the Plumbers and Gas Fitters' Union and from 1947 until 1949, he was the President of the Trades and Labor Council. He was the Assistant Secretary of the New South Wales Australian Labor Party 1949 until 1951. He became its organising secretary 1951 - 1952; acting general secretary in December 1952 and general secretary in March 1953; he resigned the Secretaryship of the Union on 7 November 1954. He opposed the abolition of the Legislative Council. After this, he held various jobs including concreting contractor and truck driver. From 1962, he was a milk vendor.
