Educated at Dudley and Plattsburg public schools; employed as a wire worker at Wallsend and Leichhardt; joined Railways department, storeman from 1919 until 1941; resigned; member of Australian Railways Union; active member of Returned Serviceman's League; staff of sergeant training from 1939 until 1945 war.
Military Service
Served in Australian Infantry Forces from 1916 until 1919, 53rd Battalion, France and was gassed, Victoria Cross in 1918, Private.
Honours Received
Awarded the Victoria Cross (VC) for his part in the Australian attack at Peronne in France on 1 September 1918.
