Educated at Eltham and Lismore Public Schools; assisted father on leaving school; director in 1930, and from 1935 was chairman and managing director of Car Owners' Mutual Insurance Company, Lismore, rubber tyre merchants; later became a dairy farmer and grazier; president of North Coast Agriculture and Industrial Society 1950-1958; founder and chairman of Lismore branch of Junior Road Safety Council of New South Wales; president of Lismore Ambulance Board; Rotarian; Freemason.
